WE CAN'T PAY ASUU 248 BILLION NAIRA - FG

The federal government has said it can't meet one of the demands of the academic union of universities (ASUU) to pay 248 billion naira for earned allowances owing to the economic situation in the country. 

Speaking with reporters yesterday after the federal executive council meeting,the minister of labour and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige said the federal government have agreed to seven of the eight demands ASUU made,but wont be able to meet the 248 billion naira allowance fee. "We are in recession, it won't be easy to source for the money now,but we are still negotiating with ASUU", he said.

ASUU had earlier embarked on a one week warning strike which ended on Tuesday to press home their demands.
