OOU STUDENTS SET TO STAGE PROTEST
The students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye are set to embark on a "peaceful protest" to the Ogun State government office, Abeokuta tomorrow over nonpayment of their lecturer's salaries.
This was made known in a press release published on Wednesday by the Student Union Public Relations Officer(PRO), Com. Dotun Adebusoye. The union alleged that the State Government have not replied nor reacted to series of letters written to put an end to the industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of University, OOU Chapter over non-payment of salary.
The statement reads in part "The Students' Union Government of Olabisi Onabanjo University has moved to stage a peaceful demonstration and will also address the press over the industrial action embarked upon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, OOU branch which has grounded academic activities in the University.
"The bases for our demonstration includes; Non-funding of the institution which include payment of staff salaries and other entitlements, deliberate neglect of the school infrastructural wise, that our students must enjoy services they paid for, just to mention a few."
